	Le monument a été produit avec d’autres monuments en 1998 à l’occasion du 150e anniversaire de l’abolition de l’esclavage. Avec la statue du Neg Mawon et le Cap 110, un ensemble de 15 statues installées en triangle, pour symboliser le commerce triangulaire entre l’Europe, l’Afrique et les Amériques, le Monument à Victor Schœlcher compose un ensemble monumental honorant la mémoire des personnes mises en esclavage, ayant résisté à l’esclavage, et engagées dans le combat pour l’abolition. 
	The monument was produced with other monuments in 1998 to mark the 150th anniversary of the abolition of slavery. Together with the statue of Neg Mawon and Cap 110, a group of 15 statues placed in a triangle, in reference to the triangular trade between Europe, Africa and the Americas, the Monument à Victor Schœlcher forms a monumental ensemble honoring the memory of those who were enslaved, resisted slavery and fought for its abolition.
