Monument to Victor Schœlcher, Fort-de-France Victor Schœlcher, wearing a frock coat, wraps his arm around a child dressed only in a loincloth, symbolizing an emancipated young enslaved person, who, with his right hand over his heart, brings his left hand to his mouth and looks at him with gratitude. Victor Schœlcher, towering over the child, shows him the path to freedom with his left hand.
