Julie Marquet is a lecturer at the Université du Littoral Côte d’Opale. She works on law and justice in India under colonial rule, as well as on the way populations were categorized in the colonial spaces of India and the Indian Ocean. She has written a dissertation on caste conflicts in the French Settlements of India in the 19th century, winner in 2019 of the prix d’histoire sociale Mattei Dogan Maison des sciences de l’homme. She is a member of the Groupe de recherche sur les ordres coloniaux within which she co-produces the podcast Des Colonisations.
