Emmanuelle Sibeud is Professor of Colonial and Postcolonial History at Paris 8 University and a member of IDHE.S (CNRS, UMR 8533). She was a junior member of the Institut Universitaire de France. She works on the intellectual and cultural history of colonialism in Africa in the XXth century. Her publications include a monograph on the shaping of French colonial knowledge regarding Africa (2002) and a collection of essays on the cultures of empires (with Romain Bertrand and Hélène Blais, 2015). She works on philanthropic networks in Africa at the beginning of the XXth century with a focus on colonial racism in France and recently edited The Black Populations of France. Histories from Metropole to Colonies (with Sylvain Pattieu and Tyler Stoval, 2021).
