Tommy Maddinson is a postgraduate research assistant working with the Cast in Stone / Gravées dans le marbre project since December 2023. Tommy completed an MA in Race, Ethnicity and Postcolonial Studies at UCL’s Sarah Parker Remond Centre in 2023, where he wrote his dissertation on the RNLI and the contested politics of race, nation and humanity in the English Channel today. His interests broadly include Britain’s imperial histories, contemporarypractices of border-making in the Channel, and humanism in the twenty-first century.
