"Lord Kitchener was a hero of his time and a leading engineer in military innovation. Many of his initiatives in railway construction in the Sudan led to British Engineering successes around the world. Local press are publishing misdirected information about him with the intent of removing his statue in Chatham. This would be an insult to the local military and their engineering history. We request you save the statue and work with the RE museum to show the really Lord Kitchener for who he was."
