- The obligation for health-care workers to be vaccinated against Covid 19 met with strong opposition in Guadeloupe and Martinique, in a context where the management of the health crisis was different from that in mainland France, and where the health of the inhabitants of the Antilles was still very poorly taken into account and cared for by the public authorities (lack of resources and personnel in the health services; chlordecone scandal). From November onwards, opposition hardened and a curfew was imposed, leading to demonstrations, a general strike and urban violence.
