- The president of the Société des amis de Victor Schœlcher, Brigitte Rodes, took to the press to condemn the actions targeting the Schœlcher monuments in Basse-Terre and Vieux-Habitants, pointing out the differences between the Martinique and Guadeloupe contexts, notably the fact that the first deputy elected in Guadeloupe in 1848, Victor Schœlcher's running mate, was Louisy Mathieu, a black man and former slave.
