- Following a 12-year campaign, led by the Mary Seacole Trust, that raised £500,000, the first public statue of a named Black woman was unveiled in the grounds of St Thomas' Hospital. It was unveiled by actress, author, singer and broadcaster Baroness Floella Benjamin. The politician David Lammy was present at the unveiling, and said it was a "seminal moment for Londoners, and for the black community particularly."
