François Cogné

has biography | a une biographie: Trained at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris, François Cogné created the statue of Clémenceau installed on the Champs-Elysées in 1932. He was also responsible for the equestrian statue of Lyautey inaugurated in Casablanca, Morocco in 1938. Having produced a bust of Pétain (1929), then a project for his funeral monument (1931), in 1940 he was commissioned to produce the official bust of the new French head of state. He remained aloof from other forms of artistic collaboration, however, and was able to pursue his career after 1945
